18 footballers from various youth clubs in the Castlereagh Borough Council area recently benefited from the George Best Belfast City Airport’s Community Fund.
The fund which was set up to support young people within the airports local community, donated 18 signature tracksuits to a group of young footballers setting out to Manchester to play against teenagers in Manchester at Carrington, Manchester United’s state-of-the-art training ground.

Flybe, the UK’s Number One domestic airline and the largest scheduled low cost carrier at the George Best Belfast City Airport, is celebrating having hit the global aviation world big time by making the Top 10 in one of the influential Forbes magazine’s famous lists, the only UK carrier to do so. In being listed amongst these world-leading airlines, Flybe finished ahead of many other international household names, leaving trailing in its wake the likes of Air France, British Airways, Continental, Air Canada and Iberia.

Flybe cabin crew member Lesley Young, along with Flybe Captain and charity ambassador Aron Dooey, back left, present Cancer Research UK Northern Ireland Area Volunteer Manager Kevin Harper with over £21,000 from the proceeds of Flybe’s Northern Ireland fundraising activities for their partnered charity. During the past year, members of Flybe cabin crew took part in the Belfast marathon, held a 70’s night, had inflight collections as well as other activities to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
