      Friday 06 Jul 2012

Michelle Hatfield, Director of HR and Corporate Responsibility at George Best Belfast City Airport and winner of the 2011/2012 IoD NI Young Director of the Year award, has been shortlisted for the finals of the Institute of Directors’ prestigious national Director of the Year Awards.

Michelle is one of five Northern Ireland Directors to make the shortlist. All five were winners of their category in the Northern Ireland Awards for 2011-12, sponsored by insurance brokers and risk management advisors Abbey Bond Lovis, and were nominated for the national awards by IoD Northern Ireland.

Michael Howard of food and drinks company SHS Group has been shortlisted in the Large Company Director of the Year category. Michael was also the winner of the IoD Lunn’s Award of Excellence earlier this year.

In the Global Director of the Year category, Brendan McGurgan of CDE Global has reached the national finals. His Cookstown based company manufactures equipment for the quarrying and mining industry.

Also making the shortlist are Seamus O’Prey of social enterprise Ortus in the Third Sector Director of the Year category, and Simon Hunter of Hunter Apparel in the Family Business category. Hunter Apparel produces corporate clothing in Londonderry.

IoD Northern Ireland Chairman Mervyn McCall congratulated these local leaders:

“I am delighted that all five of our winners have made the national shortlist. It proves that Northern Ireland continues to produce business men and women of the highest calibre. I wish them all the very best in the national finals on 5 October in London.”
