Bangor International Choral Festival is singing the praises of George Best Belfast City Airport after receiving backing from its Community Fund.
The Festival, taking place from 25 until 28 April at St. Comgall’s Parish Centre, Brunswick Road in Bangor is well known for its high standard of choral singing from groups irrespective of ability or background.

Audiences at the Festival are currently being treated to spectacular choral performances from primary schools, special schools, Grammar/Secondary Schools, youth choirs, Ladies, Mixed, Male Voice, Folk and Barbershop groups.

      Margaret McDowell, Festival Chairperson said:
“We are absolutely thrilled that Belfast City Airport has chosen to support the Festival through its Community Fund programme.

“In this our 19th year, Festival 2012 has 31 Primary School entries into this section with 760 children taking to the stage to compete. Belfast City Airport’s generous funding of the Primary School Competitions is very much appreciated by the Festival.

“Without financial support such as this the Festival would not be able to exist.”

Michelle Hatfield, Corporate Responsibility Director at Belfast City Airport, said:

“Through our Community Fund, the airport is able to support local projects that are of benefit to those directly involved and the wider community and the Bangor International Choral Festival ticks all the boxes!

“Our Community Fund donation has gone towards supporting the very large entry from the Primary School Section in the Festival.

“Competing in the Festival provides individuals with a wonderful opportunity to develop their self-confidence whilst sharing their incredible talent with the Festival audiences.

“We are delighted to support the Festival and hope that the experience will spark a long term interest in the art of choral singing. We wish all the participants the best of luck.”
