easyJet says its service from George Best Belfast City Airport to London Luton has been very well received and that in response to traveller demand it is to increase daily flights on the route from two to three.
The airline had been operating Luton flights from Belfast International Airport, but switched to Belfast City in January to see if passengers would prefer an airport closer to the city when flying on shorter routes.

Trevor Spinks, easyJet’s Northern Ireland marketing manager, said: “We are delighted with the support we have had from passengers, particularly the business community, and are now increasing the frequency to offer our customers increased choice on this route.

“With two daily flights we estimated that we would have 180,000 passengers a year on the route. Now with three flights, we believe that the figure will rise to 270,000.”

The extra flight will be introduced when easyJet’s winter schedule starts on 31 October. Flights are now on sale with fares from £23.99.

In the new schedule, weekday flights from Belfast will be at 08:35, 16:35 and 19:40 – and from Luton, at 07:00, 15:00 and 18:00.

Spinks added: “People have made us Northern Ireland’s favourite airline, but we are always looking for ways to improve our service.

“We have been testing the water on the Luton route and, in view of the great support, we may
consider introducing additional routes from Belfast City over time.”

Overall, easyJet remains the leader in offering an unbeatable package for London travellers. As well as the three Luton flights, the airline will continue to operate four daily flights from Belfast International Airport to both Gatwick and Stansted.

Katy Best, business development director at Belfast City, said: “We are delighted that easyJet's first route from Belfast City Airport has proved extremely popular.

“We have been recording record-breaking growth in passenger numbers lately, and we look forward to welcoming additional passengers through our terminal with the introduction of the third flight to Luton.

“We have also recently launched our enhanced terminal facilities, designed to improve the customer experience at the airport which, I’m positive, will appeal to our easyjet passengers.”
