    • One week from bmibaby’s departure...

      Friday 11 May 2012

Brian Ambrose, Chief Executive at George Best Belfast City Airport, said:
“We anticipate that in June we shall be in a position to make an announcement regarding the arrival of more than one new airline to Belfast City Airport. This follows a week of intensive negotiations.
“These airlines would service both domestic routes and a European network in 2013.

“We also hope that some of the European destinations vacated by bmibaby will be filled in time for this summer season.

“Already, our biggest airline partner Flybe has announced increased capacity on the Birmingham replacing the 78 seat Q400 with 118 seat E195 on certain flights and has doubled the weekday flights to East Midlands which is welcome news.

“Continuing private investment has made Belfast City Airport an attractive proposition for arriving and departing visitors and we will continue to offer our customers the highest levels of service now and in the future.”

Details of the new airlines and routes will be announced in the coming weeks.
