The funding from the airport has provided the playgrounds at St. Joseph’s Primary School with an array of exciting games and challenges the children can enjoy.
New additions to the playground include a climbing wall, picnic tables, a ball maze, a turbo racer, noughts and crosses and a musical corner including drums and a xylophone.
The smaller playground at the school also benefitted from the funding seeing the arrival of an abacus, chalk boards, pairing shapes games and a ‘how tall are you’ chart.
Joe Ryan, Principal of St. Joseph’s Primary School said of the funding:
“It is thanks to the airport’s most generous donation of £5,000 that we were able to develop the playgrounds to provide a new and exciting area for the children to play.
“The project has transformed what was a very small and dull area into a bright, colourful and interactive playground, meeting the needs of all the children in this rapidly expanding school.”
Michelle Hatfield Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at Belfast City Airport said,
“The playgrounds look fantastic! The children are having so much fun with the new equipment and we’re very proud to have been involved in making that happen.
“Throughout 2010 the airport has provided financial support for a number of community projects. It is very rewarding to witness how the children at St. Joseph’s Primary School have benefitted from our Community Fund.”
To date the airport’s community fund has contributed over £40,000 to local projects. For further information on the community fund or to find out how your group can apply for funding please visit www.belfastcityairport.com or email firstname.lastname@example.org
