Having won an extended contract for a further 10 years to 2019, WDF relocated the Alpha Airport Shopping store, which has operated at Belfast City Airport since 2004 and transformed it into a larger World Duty Free store. With 2,126 sq ft of retail space, the stylish new store offers a larger selection of products and some brands that are completely new to the Belfast store including Guerlain, Versace, Hermes, Chloe and Cartier.
Also new to the store is an entirely new 372 sq ft liquor area which stocks an extensive range of whiskies – with a strong focus on Irish whiskeys – spirits, wines and champagnes.
Commenting on the arrival of World Duty Free at Belfast City Airport, Fred Creighton, Director of Retail Operations at WDF said, ‘We were delighted to have this opportunity to work in close partnership with Belfast City Airport and help create the exceptional customer experience they were seeking to deliver. When we were awarded a renewed contract at Belfast, we saw it as an opportunity to bring the recognised World Duty Free brand to the airport and give our customers a first class shopping experience, along with exceptional value and choice across all product categories.
Brian Ambrose, CEO of Belfast City Airport continues, ‘We had exciting plans for our redevelopment of the airside facilities at Belfast and WDF really embraced those and worked with us to help make them a reality. The World Duty Free store is a bigger retail space and brings a prestigious shopping environment to the airport, along with some great new brands and an extensive product choice, including for the first time at our airport, a range of liquor. We are sure that our customers will love this transformation of Belfast City Airport’
