In light of the heightened security measures, the area immediately in front of the airport will now be designated a drop-off only zone.  As a result, any persons intending to collect passengers from George Best Belfast City Airport must park in the short stay car park. Parking will be free in this area for the first 10 minutes.

All passengers are advised to check with the airline they are travelling with on dimensions and number of hand baggage items permitted. Passengers are reminded that all items must be x-ray screened. All laptops and large electrical items must be removed from their bag and placed in a tray.

Liquids will be permitted in 100ml containers only.

All liquids shall be presented at the search point for examination.

The following exceptions to the 100ml rule may be made:

Essential medicines in liquid form sufficient for the trip (e.g. diabetic kit), as long as they are verified as authentic in accordance with Department for Transport guidance.

Baby milk, liquid baby food or special dietary requirement foodstuff in liquid form sufficient and essential for the trip.

These liquids will still be screened.

Drinks can be purchased in the shop after security, and taken on board the aircraft.

NB:  The definition of liquids should include gels, pastes, lotions, liquids/solid mixtures and the contents of pressurised containers, toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfume, deodorant, shaving foam, aerosols and lighter fluids.

These liquid containers must be brought to the airport contained in a single, Transparent re-sealable plastic bagtransparent, re-sealable plastic bag (about the size of a small freezer bag), which itself must not exceed one litre in capacity (approximately 20cm x 20cm). The contents of the plastic bag must fit comfortably and the bag sealed. Each passenger may carry only one such bag of liquids. The bag must be presented separately for examination at the airport security point.


Pushchairs, walking aids and wheelchairs are permitted but they must be x-ray screened whenever possible.

Passengers should note that the x-raying of footwear might be required during this period of heightened security measures. We will always require passengers to remove coats for x-ray. To assist the security staff please remove such items on arrival at the screening area as requested.

Liquids that fail a security liquid test will not be allowed past the security checkpoint.
