Check In

Finding check-in

Check-in desks are situated to the left hand side upon entering the terminal building.

How early to arrive for check-in

You are advised to check in as early as possible. As a general guide, you should aim to arrive:

UK Flight - 90 minutes before scheduled departure
European flights - 2 hours before scheduled departure

Please check the instructions on your boarding pass or from your travel agent. If you are still unsure, please check with your airline directly.

At check-in

To save time, have your boarding passes and identification ready to present to the member of staff at the check-in desks.

Generally, valid forms of identification include:

  • Passport
  • Driving License
  • ID Card
However, please do check with your airline directly before travelling to the airport. Failure to show a valid form of identification will mean you cannot fly.

Ensure you have one piece of hand luggage only and that your hand luggage contains only valuables and items you will need during the journey.

Present any hold luggage at the check-in desk. Once your hold luggage is checked in and your boarding card has been issued, you can proceed to security control.

Self-service check-in

Most airlines offer self-service check-in kiosks where you can print your boarding card, then take your baggage to the bag-drop facility. Airline staff will be on hand in these areas if you need assistance.

Online check-in

Use online check-in to select seats and print boarding passes before you get to the airport. Then when you arrive, just drop your baggage at the bag-drop kiosk and you're ready to proceed through security.

To find out if you can use this service, please check with your airline directly.

Please note that passengers who have checked in online will still need to arrive in good time for their flight. Please pay close attention to the times given by your airline for dropping bags, collecting boarding cards and arriving at the gate.

Mobile check-in

A number of airlines offer mobile check-in. Provided your mobile phone accepts the airlines boarding card, it is then sent directly to your phone and all you have to do then is drop your baggage at the bag-drop kiosk and show your boarding card on-screen at security.

To find out if you can use this service, please check with your airline directly.

Please note that passengers who have checked in on their mobile phones or online still need to arrive in good time for their flight. Please pay close attention to the times given by your airline for dropping bags, collecting boarding cards and arriving at the gate.
