Over the years, George Best Belfast City Airport has sought to give more than a little back to the community by working with charity partners to deliver countless activities and raise money for Northern Irish charities.

Charity Partner of the Year

Belfast City Airport has selected The Welcome Organisation as its charity of the year, aiming to raise vital funds to deliver potentially life-saving services to those affected by homelessness in Northern Ireland.

Welcome Organisation - Charity Partner of the Year for Belfast City Airport

The Welcome Organisation currently offers support through its drop-in centre, crisis accommodation for women, street outreach programme and floating support service, but relies on the generosity of the community to operate.

We have a variety of projects planned to assist in raising awareness about the services the Welcome Organisation provides, with airport employees also partaking in volunteering and opportunities for the public to donate funds within the airport.

Previous Charity Partners

2017/2018

Our Charity Partner for 2017/2018 was Inspire, a charity and social enterprise aiming to improve wellbeing for all. They deliver mental health, learning/intellectual disability, autism, addiction and workplace wellbeing services across the island of Ireland.

Belfast City Airport worked with Insipre to engage both passengers and staff in important conversations about wellbeing and how best to look after our mental health.

                               INSPIRE Wellbeing

Various events were held at the Airport to increase awareness of Inspire and raise important funds. Inspire visited the terminal during the busy summer period to provide free-of-charge mindfulness sessions to both passengers and staff, to inspire meditation, help with positive thinking and reduce travel anxiety.

Overall, the airport raised £5,000 for Inspire.

2015/2016

Our Charity Partner of the Year for 2015/2016 was The Northern Ireland Transplant Association.

         NI Transplant Association

The Northern Ireland Transplant Association (NITA) provides a service to all those going through the hardships of organ donation.

Belfast City Airport supported numerous fundraising events throughout the partnership, raising crucial funds for the charity and promoting organ donation.
