Charities

Over the years, George Best Belfast City Airport has sought to give more than a little back to the community, with countless activities to raise money for Northern Irish charities.

Some of the charities we have supported are:

Marie Curie Cancer Care

Marie Curie Cancer Care is one of the UK's largest charities. Established in 1948, the charity mainly cares for people with cancer and other life limiting illnesses. In 2006, Marie Curie became GBBCA's charity of the year. The airport took part in various fund raising activities which enabled them to hand over a cheque of £20,000 to Marie Curie Nurse of the Year, Imelda McGucken at the end of the year.

NICFC is a registered charity which offers practical, emotional and financial support to children and young people up to and including the age of 21, who are living with cancer, and their families. NICCFC became GBBCA's charity of the year in 2007. The airport supported the NICRC's family programme, which costs around £105,000 annually and raised over £10,000 in 2007-2008 from a variety of events, then matched what it had raised, bringing the total donation to £20,000.
