Coronavirus (COVID-19) Advice for Passengers

Belfast City Airport remains open and operational with a significantly reduced flight schedule. The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and staff is of paramount importance and we remain in contact with the Government and Public Health Agency Northern Ireland to closely follow all relevant directives for airports.
We recently became the first airport in Northern Ireland to achieve an airport health accreditation certificate by the Airports Council International (ACI) for its extensive COVID-19 measures, which are detailed below.
Measures are in place throughout the terminal to enable social distancing for passengers and staff with signage visible throughout the airport – posters and information on digital screens. Passengers are asked to wear a face covering through the terminal and onto their flight. Reusable masks are available to purchase in terminal.
We ask all passengers to respect these social distancing measures and have employed additional staff to ensure they are adhered to throughout the airport.

If your flight has been cancelled please contact your airline or travel agent directly.
Cancelling, amending or rescheduling your flight cannot be actioned at the airport so please do not travel to the airport unless you are flying that day.
We understand this is a difficult time for everybody so to make your journey, and that of your fellow passengers, as smooth and safe as possible, please adhere to Government advice re: hand washing/sanitising and social distancing as you would in any other public place at this time.

Advice for Passengers at Belfast City Airport
Q. What should I do if I feel unwell on the day of my travel?
A: Should you feel unwell, please do not travel to the airport. Instead, please enter your symptoms here and follow the personalised advice from the Public Health Agency.
Q. Is public transport to/from Belfast City Airport available?
A: Yes, bus and train services to and from Belfast City Airport are operating, however, due to a reduction in the number of passengers, all Translink services will operate a revised timetable.

Q. Should I allow extra time at the airport?
A: Please allow additional time ahead of your flight. With additional measures in place to ensure social distancing, check-in, security and boarding processes may take longer than you are used to.
Q. Do I need to complete a Passenger Locator Form when flying into Belfast City Airport?
A: If you arrive into the UK from an airport outside of the UK, you will need to complete a Passenger Locator Form. This includes those arriving in Belfast on a connecting flight through another UK airport (such as Heathrow). This form will be checked by Border Force at the point of entry into the UK. You can find the form and more information here. Please note that you cannot submit this form until 48 hours before your arrival time in the UK.
If you’re travelling with someone under 18 years old, they do not need their own form if you will arrive and leave together, will stay at the same UK address, and you add their details into your form.
Q. Where can I find hand sanitising facilities at Belfast City Airport?
A: All our toilets and washroom facilities remain open and stocked with hand soap for your use. Sanitising units can also be found in the in the Main Concourse, Security, the Departure Lounge and in Arrivals.
Q. What measures are in place at the airport to protect passengers and staff?
A: Hand sanitiser and hand washing facilities are available throughout the airport; all staff interacting with passengers will be wearing the relevant Personal Protective Equipment; markings are visible on the floor to promote social distancing with posters and advice on digital screens visible throughout the terminal; additional sanitising of all public areas; seating areas have been distanced and there are space markings on seats; additional distancing between security tray loading bays and repack stations; and controlled, socially distanced boarding in small groups has been introduced.
The airport has also deployed additional staff dedicated to terminal sanitising and to ensure passengers adhere to social distancing within the terminal. These measures will be continuously reviewed to ensure ongoing compliance with additional guidance or requirements.

Q. Can I take hand sanitiser through airport security?
A: Yes, hand sanitiser under 100ml can be taken through airport security within hand luggage as per usual security restrictions. Bottles containing hand sanitiser must be sealed, in a clear plastic bag, removed from your hand luggage and placed in a separate tray for screening.
Q. Can I take anti-bacterial wipes through security in hand luggage?
A: Yes. Anti-bacterial wipes are not classified as a liquid and therefore can be taken through airport security without having to be removed from the rest of your hand luggage.
Q. My travel plans have changed. Can I cancel or amend my car park booking?
A: Yes, if you have booked directly with Belfast City Airport, you can cancel or amend your car park booking online, free of charge, up to four hours before you were due to travel.
Simply visit 'manage my booking' to complete your cancellation or amendment.
If you are already within the four hour window, you can contact the airport on email@example.com, providing your full name and booking reference, for further information and clarity on your options.
For those passengers who have booked with alternative providers, for example Holiday Extras, customers will need to contact them directly to action any cancellations, amends or refunds.
Q. Are shops and restaurants still open at the airport?
A: Car hire facilities remain open. Please contact your provider if you have a booking. Due to restrictions announced by the NI Executive, World Duty Free will remain closed until February 2021.
Starbucks and WH Smith are deemed as essential retail, and whilst these units remain open in our Departures Lounge, they will be operating reduced hours in line with daily flight schedules. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and look forward to returning to a full service in the near future.
Vending machines for food and beverage are available both in the main concourse before security and throughout the Departures Lounge after security.
Q. What refreshments are available at the airport?
A: Vending machines, a water fountain and coffee machines are located throughout the terminal. WH Smith and Starbucks are also open with revised operating hours.
