Security Passes at Belfast City Airport

We have implemented an online system for making all types of ID Pass applications for access to Belfast City Airport.

If you require a visitor pass, work permit or tool pass, or you are an authorised signatory or a manager responsible for administering Belfast City Airport passes within your organisation, you have come to the right place.

Via our online portal, you can download the current guide to the processes and the regulations in place, then download the required application forms for your purpose of visit Belfast City Airport.

Security pass application forms can also be downloaded online and submitted physically to our Pass Office which is located in the main concourse, opposite our airline check-in desks. Pass office opening hours are as follows:

Monday – Friday, 09.00-13.00

  • Visitor Passes

    The VP1 form for a 1-5 day visitor pass

    The pass will be valid for 5 consecutive days only and the visitor will not be able to receive another 1-5 day pass within a 3 month period, they will need to produce both parts of their driving licence or their passport when their pass is being issued and whenever they are asked by security while they are on site.

    Any department requiring temporary passes outside of the normal opening hours should ask the person requiring a pass to complete their section of a VP1 form, which should then be authorised by a supervisor in the department requiring the visitor then the form and a scan or copy of the visitor’s identification they intend to use for the visit should be returned to the pass office, the pass office will then issue the passes which will be available for collection from security at the outsize baggage point.  When collecting, the airport full pass holder will have to sign for the passes to say they have been collected, the passes can be returned to the pass office box at the office door or at the out sized baggage point at the end of the visit.
    People who will require the passes for more than 1 day will hold on to the temporary pass they have been issued for the duration of their visit, but they must continue to use the original form of ID they submitted with their application throughout the visit and the pass must be returned at the end of their visit or the £80 fine will be enforced to the escorting department.
    In the event of a pass being required for an emergency outside of office hours please contact the airport duty manager on extension 5053, they will be able to assist in some circumstances for genuine emergencies, but they will not be able to help in situation where a department has simply forgotten to follow the procedures above for scheduled work, on those occasions the visitor will be refused access until a temporary pass has been arranged from the pass office.

    The VP2 form for a 6-60 day visitor pass 
    The pass will be valid for 60 days, once the pass has expired no other form of temporary pass can be issued, the visitor must move on to a full pass.

  • Landside passes (LS1)

    The LS1 forThe applicant will need to be able to produce a valid basic Criminal Record Check from their area of residence and both parts of their driving licence or their passport.

  • Airside passes (AP1)

    The applicant will need to have the following before they can make an appointment for their full pass to be issued

    • Access NI criminal record check basic disclosure – the original certificate should be produced to me within ten weeks from the date of issue (As long as you have been a resident in NI for the 5 years, otherwise a criminal record check from the place you resided in is required (DBS for England / Wales or Disclosure Scotland for Scotland etc.)
    • GSAT training – can be completed online at once clearance has been received.
    • Airside safety awareness training – I can register you for this once clearance has been received.
    • Yellow AP1 form, authorised by relevant department authorising officer.
    • At least two written references to cover all employment history for the past five years, with no gaps.
    • Passport or driving licence
