Redburn Loughview Community Forum’s ‘Project Seedling’ is set to bloom, thanks to support from Belfast City Airport’s Community Fund.
Aiming to transform underused urban spaces into inclusive, sensory-rich environments, Project Seedling is a community-led initiative which promotes wellbeing and environmental stewardship through the rollout of co-designed workshops and accessible gardening.

Belfast City Airport’s Community Fund has supported over 262 local projects to date, donating £781,852 since its inception with the aim of reaching £1 million by 2028.
Lynn McAuley from Redburn Loughview Community Forum, added:
"The impact of Project Seedling has been felt far beyond the physical improvements it has delivered. By bringing residents together to shape their environment, the project has helped create a stronger sense of community and belonging.
“Participants have gained confidence, formed new relationships, and felt less isolated as a result of being involved. The lasting connections and trust that have developed through the project are among its greatest achievements, and we would like to thank Belfast City Airport for helping bring our vision to life.
“We would also like to pay tribute to our late colleague, Dennis Quee, whose dedication, and passion for community spaces played a significant role in shaping this project. Dennis sadly passed away in April, but his influence and hard work continue to be felt throughout Project Seedling, and we are proud to honour his memory through its ongoing success.”
The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Craig Blaney said:
“It has been fantastic to see the work being done by Redburn Loughview Community Forum to foster inclusivity, drive community engagement and create shared spaces for everyone to enjoy.
