IGNITE Youth Leadership Programme – Privacy Notice

At Belfast City Airport (BCA), we respect your privacy and are committed to safeguarding the personal information you provide to us. This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in connection with your participation in the IGNITE Youth Leadership Programme.

BCA is the data controller for the personal data you provide in connection with the IGNITE Youth Leadership Programme. This means we are responsible for determining how your personal data is processed and for ensuring that your data is handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

By participating in the IGNITE Youth Leadership Programme, you are providing your explicit consent for us to collect and process your personal data for the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, although please note that doing so may impact your ability to participate in the programme.

3. Data We Collect

  • As part of your participation in the Youth Leadership Programme, we collect the following personal data:
  • Video Submissions: This includes video recordings containing your face and voice, submitted as part of the selection process.
  • Email Address: We collect your email address to communicate with you regarding your application to the programme and related updates.
  • Phone Number: We collect your phone number to communicate with you regarding your application to the programme and related updates.
  • Full Address and Postcode: This information is requested for administrative purposes, specifically, verifying eligibility with the programme, and coordinating programme logistics.

  • Date of Birth: We collect your date of birth to verify eligibility for the programme and to ensure compliance with age-related criteria.

4. How We Use Your Data

  • Your personal data will be used for the following purposes related to the IGNITE Youth Leadership Programme:
  • Video Submissions: Your video, including any face and voice data, will be reviewed as part of the judging process.
  • Communication: We will use your email address and phone number to contact you with updates, feedback, and information regarding the programme.
  • Verification: Your full address and postcode will help us verify eligibility and facilitate coordination if needed.
  • Eligibility and Compliance: Your date of birth will be used to confirm your eligibility for the programme and to ensure compliance with any legal or program-specific age requirements.

5. Data Retention

  • Unsuccessful Candidates: For candidates who have successful applications to the programme, we will retain your personal data for 6 months following the conclusion of the programme.
  • Successful Candidates: For those selected as part of the Youth Leadership Programme, your personal data will be retained for 3 years to facilitate programme participation, updates, and related communication, and to further allow us to govern the programme in future.
  • After these retention periods, your personal data will be securely deleted or anonymized.

6. Data Storage and Transfers

All personal data collected for the IGNITE Youth Leadership Programme is stored securely within the United Kingdom. We do not transfer personal data to any countries outside of the UK. Your personal information will be stored in data centres located within the UK, ensuring that your data remains protected under UK data protection laws.

7. Additional Data Processors

Belfast City Airport is the sole data controller, and there are no additional data processors involved in the processing of your personal data. Your personal data will only be handled by authorised personnel within our organisation who are responsible for managing the IGNITE Youth Leadership Programme.

With the exception of the Judging Panel for applications to the programme, Belfast City Airport will invite external judging panellists to a physical location on site to review the submissions in line with BCA’s judging criteria. Your information will not be transferred or removed from BCA Systems at any time.

8. How We Protect Your Data

We take your privacy seriously and have implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Only authorised personnel will have access to your information, and we ensure that it is stored securely.

9. Your Rights

  • You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
  • Access: You can request access to the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: You can request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Deletion: You can request deletion of your personal data, subject to any legal or contractual obligations.
